WGM were appointed with full duties as the lead Consultant responsible for design of Mechanical and Electrical services to a Grade A listed church, presbytery and clubrooms. This project differed from most in that we were appointed following the dismissal of the previous Consultant and where the main contractor had gone into receivership.
The construction of the project was already at 30%; this obviously presented its own challenges. Initially we required to review the existing services design with respect to the installation, reporting to the Client and design team and update the design, working closely with the Quantity Surveyor.
Due to the condition of the existing design and installation, this involved a full re-design of the M&E services including full M&E co-ordination. The major challenges were heating to the main church including control, lighting to the main church including control and co-ordination of site utilities/services whilst endeavouring to keep within the Clients budget.
General duties included client brief and development and final account negotiations with the M&E Contractors, design duties included:
Heating systems
Ventilation systems
Domestic water services and drainage systems
Lighting and emergency lighting systems
Main and small power distribution
