The current Assisted Conception Service and Laboratory, are located within separate facilities with the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, within various Buildings, this project bring all Assisted Conception Service facilities together and will be the largest of its type in Europe and consists of a main lab, that requires to be to a clean room standard to meet the European Tissue Directive, which laboratories carrying out procedures on cells for implanting are governed by. Along with the main laboratory there are offices, minor operating/procedure rooms, along with the necessary clinical patient support areas.

The project consists of a phased refurbishment and upgrade of the entire department providing new mechanical and electrical services throughout, including upgrading of main GRI-QEB main M&E infrastructure to facilitate the upgrade.
